ANALYSIS
I - INTRODUCTION TO VIBRATION ANALYSIS AND PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCEThis three day seminar builds from the ENTRY
LEVEL course and provides the essential information in a
generic manner for implementing of a successful PMP program and
is intended for analysts having less than one year of experience.
Emphasis is on how to detect a series of fundamental
machinery problems from our world renown "Illustrated Vibration
Diagnostics Chart" that describes: (1) unbalance, (2) misalignment,
(3) rotor eccentricity, (4) mechanical looseness, (5) belt drive
problems, and (6) soft foot problems using both spectral and phase
analysis.
Introductory information for detection of resonance,
rolling element bearing, gear, flow related and electrical problems
is also given.
A proven tabulated procedure, "How to Specify
Meaningful Overall and Spectral Band Alarms for a Variety of Machinery
Types and Operating Speeds" clearly shows how to specify
alarm levels for individual frequency bands; the beginning and
ending frequencies for each of the available spectral alarm bands;
recommended frequency range, #FFT lines, number of averages and
proper vibration parameter for each point taking into account
the machine type, operating speed range, machine components and
drive type.
Measurement pitfalls are discussed, along with
their effect on problem diagnoses and evaluation of problem severity.
Real-world case histories are provided to clearly
illustrate the diagnostic methods taught and how they were used
to detect and resolve the problems plaguing the machines or how
the root causes of the problems were uncovered. (100 page Case
History Section)

Prerequisites:
No prerequisites are required or assumed.
However, if Vibration Specialist Certification is desired,
a person with at least six months vibration spectrum analysis experience
is usually more successful. General familiarity with using
a calculator and a computer is required. Good math skills
and simple Algebra, primarily solving for one unknown, is
helpful. All seminar texts, demonstrations and Certification
Tests are generic to all vendors' hardware and software. |
